Rosazzo Abbey

“Here it is perfect wines,” wrote Marin Sanudo, the renowned Venetian scholar, as early as 1483. Rosazzo Abbey is the keeper of a thousand- year-old winemaking tradition, one that Livio Felluga honor and bring to life every day.

The origins of this extraordinary place are enveloped in legend: in the 9th century, a hermit named Alemanno chose the hill of Rosazzo for prayer and meditation. Over the centuries, a succession of monastic orders tended the vines and olive trees without interruption, transforming this remarkable site into a symbol of Friulian wine and its enduring legacy.

Today, we carry forward the bond between our story and that of Rosazzo, caring for the historic abbey vineyards, olive groves, and the ancient cellar dating back to the 13th century. Additionally, through the careful restoration of selected areas of the abbey, we invite you to discover our Geographical Map wines at their very birthplace, in the beating heart of the Friulian hills, where heritage, nature, and expertise converge.

In May 2025 we opened new spaces dedicated to hospitality and wine tasting within the Abbazia di Rosazzo. Nestled in the stillness of the Friulian hills, the Abbey sits at the heart of a thousand-year-old complex shaped by centuries of spirituality, culture and winemaking.

Each visit is an invitation to explore a region of remarkable depth, where wine is woven into the landscape and nature still sets the pace of the seasons. Our connection to the Abbey runs deeper than the vineyards. We tend to centuries-old olive trees and the ancient western tower. Within these walls lie both our winemaking cellar and our aging cellar, the oldest in Friuli, dating back to the late twelfth century.

Rosazzo Abbey is a place where history, wine and tradition come together in a setting that is truly unique
